When our team began work on this project, it seemed to be pretty straightforward in scope: design and plant a new garden, replace part of an existing deck.

However, once our foreman got to work removing the top boards, it was clear that the support structure was more rotted than they had imagined.

Placing fresh deck boards over a rotted structure is a temporary fix that compromises safety and longevity (yikes)! Rather than going with the band-aid solution, we sat down with the homeowner to discuss and explore better options. Together we decided to pivot and build a new, structurally sound deck. This space would offer significantly more outdoor seating and dining space.
